Proto was awarded a design build contract. Within the
design intent of WHY Architects, curators, and conservators,
Proto engineered and specified all artifact cases, platforms
and window treatments. Window panels were fabricated to
block out the daylight and additional opaque solar panels
were installed to reduce light levels. A large wall area
was fabricated with seventy linear feet of built-in artifact
cases. For the opposite wall, which is all glass, we fabricated
three large window panels, made to be removable and to
provide a surface for flat art collections. Four-sided
window alcoves cases were tucked into lower windowsills.
All conservation cases contain a large desiccant chamber
for climate control and are sealed to prevent dust and
other pollutants.
