"Amazon Rising: Seasons of the River"
This 8,600 square foot exhibit fills two galleries, showing
the annual cycle of the Amazon River, the world's largest
freshwater system, through a typical year of heavy rains
and receding floodwaters. Proto fabricated exhibit structures
and the habitats, including tanks with special metalworking.
Through the use of large environmental graphics and interpretive
signage, the visitor sees how the animals and humans adapt
to the constantly changing ecosystem. LED trails were incorporated
into the interactives to show the changing seasons. Extensive
labeling introduces you to more than 250 species of animals,
including piranhas, birds, sloths, insects, snakes, seventy-three
kinds of catfish, stingrays and caiman lizards.
